I love speaking exercises. I am a big fan of improvement efforts. But at the same time, it often feels like I've done something to improve and I actually felt that improvement, I felt great, and then I stutter again and it all comes back to me. I find myself in the exact same spot as before. 

But there is one truth, one secret if you wish, that we need to know about stuttering speaking exercises that can make all the difference.

So, what happens when we do the exercises? We feel good, we feel pumped up. Then we stutter again. And this is normal, this is our current automated speaking pattern. It launches each time we speak.  

How do we feel? 

We need consistency in our efforts more than anything else and that's what we lack. We need motivation to move further and that's what we lack. We need confidence that we can do it, and that's what we lack. 

But there's one thing that can make all the difference. 

That is the sequence.

1. It supports you 

You see what you're already done, and you feel accomplished. You face the fact that you can. So, you feel that you're capable of accomplishing the next step as well.

2. It motivates you 

You see the next step in front of you which is feasible to reach. It's not the end goal which is too far away. It's not intimidating, it's challenging but real. It motivates you to keep going. 

3. It keeps you consistent

And that's the most important thing. As one of the famous people said, "The impossible is what takes a little longer." So, the sequence actually makes it possible.
